![]() The refreshments were so fun! When we started seeing the paint night fad pop up, you would see people drinking wine while painting with friends. I did not cut it again to fit into an 8×10 frame, so the ladies either had to cut it themselves or get a “document frame” if they want to frame it. Make sure you instruct the ladies that a little bit a watercolor paint goes a LONG way, it does not take much at all! The watercolor paper I got was $4 for 20 pages at Wal Mart, it comes with the dimensions of 9×12 so you must use a cutter to cut it to 8.5×11 to go through the printer. I got styrofoam plates and small cups from the dollar store, my watercolor paints were the cheap $10 set from Walmart, and I got some brushes for $5 from Wal Mart. You can get this print that I designed for free to go along with your activity right below. I wanted to remind the ladies that now more than ever we need to be there for each other, our neighbors, our ministering sisters because we have not been going to church, we don’t have that strength and support that we usually do and we need to check in on each other. My Mom always says that when she gives service to others it helps her to feel better and pulls her out of the stress, anxiety and depression that we can sometimes slip into. To remember that the world needs your specific talents and you can bring lightness to the darkness. I felt like it was the right spiritual thought for the times we are in. Oscarson, “Young Women in the Work.” The talk was for Young Women but it applies to anyone really. Our theme was “Service”, I chose a talk from General Conference 2017 by Sister Bonnie L. Something nice to get them out of the house during these stressful times and to relax. What I loved hearing, is that ladies that have been coming to Relief Society Activities for years were saying they had never done anything like this and it was “fun and relaxing”, which is EXACTLY what I was going for. Apparently some of the ladies didn’t come because they said they were not artistic. I do wish I would’ve advertised that the watercolor is like a coloring page and that NO ARTISTIC ABILITIES are needed. A good tip is try to get sign-ups for food to help the budget and to get people to the activity haha!ĪLRIGHT, now that I got that little tid-bit out of the way, onto the actual activity! PAINT NIGHT! We played with this idea in my old ward and it never came together. It does make it a bit tough because you have a budget to stick to and you don’t want to be over-prepared or under-prepared. And then you aren’t as upset if it isn’t a good turnout or something doesn’t go right. I was VERY nervous about this activity, I wasn’t sure if anyone would come, or if EVERYONE would come because it was the first activity in forever! The motto I try to live by while in this calling, is to just do my best, get the word out, and whoever does come, needed to be there. The ladies that came didn’t seem too concerned about social distancing but were very respectful about it! ![]() We had people bring dinner trays to help with the distance situation. We planned it to be “social distanced”, we advertised that masks were not mandatory but they could wear one, and we placed our seats 6 feet from each other. Working carefully with the Relief Society & the Bishopbric we got permission to do an activity outside! It felt long overdue, it had been about 6 months since we last met. ![]() I was able to do one in February, my first one in this ward. ![]() This activity was our first one since COVID-19. ![]()
